Luxembourg has deferred the deadline for registration of company beneficial ownership from 31 August to 30 November 2019.
The jurisdiction is already far beyond the deadline set by Article 30 of the EU Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive (4AMLD), which required all EU Member States to implement central registers of beneficial ownership by June 2017. Luxembourg was not the only EU member to be late; by June 2018 the European Commission had opened infringement procedures against 20 Member States for non-transposition, mostly due to problems in setting up their beneficial ownership registries.
